Summertime Calls for Sunscreen Even in Your Car
The general consensus seems to be that sunscreen is only necessary when you’re at the park or swimming in the pool or maybe even the summer vacation to the beach. But, most of us don’t think about lathering up with the stuff before our morning commute. This photo may change your mind:
This photo is from an article published earlier this week by the New England Journal of Medicine. The Journal article says: “The patient reported that he had driven a delivery truck for 28 years. Ultraviolet A (UVA) rays transmit through window glass, penetrating the epidermis and upper layers of dermis. Chronic UVA exposure can result in thickening of the epidermis and stratum corneum [outer layer of the skin], as well as destruction of elastic fibers.” Hopefully, this is a wake up call to get people to realize the importance of sunscreen. It’s not just for the beach anymore. Enjoy your summer but, play and drive safe with sunscreen.
