Celebrating 50 Years: In the Community

There is a great spirit of giving at Academy Ford.  From all levels of employees: including the owners, the general manager, the part time receptionists, and everyone in between.  If you check out our community page here you can see some of the highlighted organizations that we continually support.

But, that goes without mentioning the everyday spirit of giving at Academy Ford.  From giving to each other to giving back.  In regards to giving to each other we have talented bakers that like to bring in something sweet to share with everyone, for example, just last week one of our employees brought in delicious pumpkin bread.  Then when you consider giving back Academy Ford gets a little creative, meet the Academy Ford Biggest Loser competition spearheaded by one of our administrative employees, Mona.  The Biggest Loser competition’s major focus is building a community of support and encouragement amongst our employees to help in their journey to lose weight. In addition to that, without going into too much detail every time someone happens to slip up on their goal of losing weight and gains a pound they make a $5 donation.  At the end of the competition the donations are added up and the proceeds are given to a charitable organization, most recently Toys for Tots.  We were able to raise a significant amount of money and purchase a lot of toys to donate to the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program.   If you are unfamiliar with Toys for Tots their objective is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.

In addition there are a few organizations that we have had a considerable history with, for example:

35 years supporting St. Vincent Pallotti High School

Academy Ford has been a big supporter of St. Vincent Pallotti High School whether that is through sponsoring  hole in one golf tournaments  making donations, or most recently partnering up to plan the upcoming Drive 4 UR School Event, where they have the opportunity to earn a $8,000 donation from Ford (1 week from today! October 13th from 8am until 4pm at St. Vincent Pallotti High School, more information here).

37 Years contributing to the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department

Academy Ford has been honored to assist the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department with their vehicle needs.  Donating a new vehicle every year to serve as the Fire Chief’s mode of transportation and provide a quality addition to their several support vehicles.

Being located in Laurel for 50 years has provided us a great opportunity to become closely involved with a lot of amazing organizations, people, and we can’t wait to see what the next 50 years have in store for us.
